Garage Makeover

January 13, 2009

Family turns car space into people space, with room for guests
Now it’s a light-filled guest cottage, playroom, and home office.

Before the addition
Architect Jonathan Feldman increased livable space ― but not the home’s footprint ― by smartly reconfiguring an existing structure.

Replacing the flat roof with a gabled one created space for the loft, which sits above the garage’s remaining parking spot.

The floor plan
The couple wanted to take advantage of some roof space for the loft bedroom. It has more privacy, and there’s a nice separation if one is working at the desk below. It also allows for a messy bed to be kept out of sight.

Outstanding post but I was wanting to know if you could write
a litte more on this topic? I’d be very grateful if you could elaborate a little bit more.
    Many thanks!
